Gyro’s worked to keep Tennis upright as the monocyle leaned into a turn while exiing the parking garage.

Even though Tennis’s machine was far faster then Jeanette’s none of that mattered on Eron.

Like all of the city areas in the Corporate Islands, travel was regulated by the vehicle computer and road computer systems. The advancement of this system reduced the number of vehicle accidents to virtually zero since each vehicle was fully aware of its surroundings even if the occupants were not.

Due to this tie in with the islands traffic computer, speeds had been regulated for optimal efficiency and safety. With that system in place, the only way to beat someone from point a to point b was to find a faster route there via routes c, d, and e.

“She knows something” Tennis thought as he saw Jeanette’s cycle switch through the lanes and take off on a adjutant road that took her to one of the overhead traffic lanes.

Traffic in front of Tennis started to slow almost immediately after Jeanette’s cycle moved to the other road. Tennis’s cycle slowed as the onboard computer sensed the closeness of traffic around the cycle and compensated for rider safety. Looking to his left Tennis saw a clear lane and switched over to pass the lumbering personal transport that had taken up the spot in front of him.

Looking up at the overhead lane Tennis could see that the traffic was moving much faster there, it was only a matter of time before she beat him to the train if he stayed on this route.

The upcoming intersection gave him an idea and he punched the plasma control panel on the cycle to check the state of traffic congestion before punching in a new route.

Leaning into a hard left turn Tennis brought his cycle onto a small less congested road only to pass another transport before turning back to the right again on another smaller road. As he pulled onto the smaller road the monocycle slowed to a crawl automatically as the traffic in front of him had stopped.

“Seism!” he yelled as the cycle was forced to sit at a dad stop in traffic while one of the few stoplights on his route cycled through it’s routine.

Minutes later Tennis pulled up to the monocycle loading area at the train station to be greeted by a grinning Jeanette.

“So what took you so long?” she asked while smiling at him, “Might want to see about upgrading your driving skills.”

“Ha ha,” Tennis replied while getting off of his monocycle, “one day I’ll figure out how you do that.”
