PAB Voris

Posted on December 10, 2007 @ 05:38PM

With record books and orders in hand, I only had a few vid shards to sum up all of what I had to bring with me. Very minimalistic when compared to what you would expect someone to carry when they reported to their new duty station. But then, I wasn’t most people, nor did most people have their flight instructor and a Politia Intelligence Officer escorting them to their duty station either.

The transport quietly sped along with Instructor Caplan at the helm, who didn’t seem to be very comfortable wearing a Politia Uniform that from the looks of it, he hadn’t worn in about 10 years or more. Major Geranth on the other hand sat in the co-pilot’s seat, and looked content to be out of the facility for a while. Caplan and Maj Geranth had told me that they were going to brief CAPT Yu about my background and capabilities before I reported in.

I was curious what she was like. CAPT Yu, better known as Firefly was famous at the academy for her demonstrated flying capabilities. I wondered what Opsidian thought of her, and how he was doing. I have to admit that I was happy and very surprised to receive a v-mail from him. Seems that word spreads quickly in the aviation community.

Arriving at PAB Voris, Caplan lightly touched down and taxied in. When the hatch opened, Caplan and Geranth disembarked and each were greeted with sharp salutes, which they crisply returned. When I stepped out, I was greeted by a small armed contingency. Escorted by the guards, we were quickly ushered into a secured room while we waited for CAPT Yu, who was busy with personally overseeing some duties as the Squadron Commanding Officer.

Caplan and Maj Geranth were reading over some files that they had brought with them, taking notes from time to time when a guardsman knocked at the door, entered, and said, “Excuse me, Commander, Major; Captain Yu will see you now.”

While they organized and closed up their files, two armed guards entered and took up posts on either side of the door. The corporal that had initially entered said, “I’ll escort you to Captain Yu’s office, while the watch keeps an eye on the Biodroid.”

Neither Caplan nor Maj Geranth seemed pleased by the chain of events, but didn’t argue as they exited. After the doors closed I took a closer look at the guards, and based on their expression, casual conversation was out of the question.
