A break in repairs.

Posted on November 30, 2008 @ 09:26AM

I’ve got to admit. The whole wristponder thing didn’t really bother me all that much. Classes getting cancelled just meant more time for me to work on the Zakki, now its time to put that aside and get back into it.

Kam and I have resumed the flight classes, even after the disappointing cancellation of the tournament. Kam is still full-on into it, but more and more I’m finding my mind wander towards the Zakki. Maybe my future lies more in mechanical repairs than in actual combat flight. I wonder if I could get the best of both worlds being a test pilot.

Anyway, after the fifth time Kam shot me down in the simulations, I think he figured out that my head wasn’t really in it.
“Come on Derf,” he said later, in a moment of faux-arrogance. “I know I school you, but it’s not usually this easy.”
“I don’t know mate,” I said to him. “I keep thinking about the Zakki. Now that classes are back on, all I can think about is getting finished so I can go and get back to it.”
“Hmm,” he thought. “Well you don’t want it interfering with your grades. There won’t be any garage and equipment to hire if you’re not in the program.”

UG, I thought. He’s right. The zakki is a passion of mine, but I can’t afford to wash out. No damage has been done yet, but I’d better muster up the will power to do both school and repairs on that machine.
